Yeahh, Manchester Orchestra is celebrating christmas by releasing 12 acoustic versions of each song on their new record, over the next 12 days (not just a clever title for the post). They were 1 for 1 w the version of ‘The Only One’ available when you click thru. if you like this band, or dont yet- listen, its gooood.

Here are a few photos from the recent ApK concert filming adventure. We shot 6 HVX’s and 1 Canon 7D. Full Audio mix to Pro Tools. The possibilities are endless. Look for much more to come of this project and more from us soon.

-Thanks to the talented friends who pulled this project off. Over the course of the 6 week tour, we got to spend 15 days with the band and filmed at shows in 10 different cities.

Yep, this is a real product. The “Hand Job” helps you open bottles and jars by gripping to the lids. The creators decided that despite the deeply unsexy nature of the item, they’d give it a lewd name and make a sexually suggestive ad in hopes that it would go viral. (It has.) We found it funny til they brought the kid in the mix.

**hmm, if it’s all about going viral -I think the shot of the old woman being ‘splashed on’ (thats the best way i could put it), justtt might do the trick.

Andrew is ‘playing’ along to ‘Two Weeks’. He taught himself ‘the lyrics’ and ‘the parts’ he’s playing … this really blows my mind since he just turned 3. I did not teach him anything, not directly, he’s only observed me (his dad) boppin’ to it in the car & stuff. Andrew is obsessed with Veckatimest, Grizzly Bear’s new album.

“Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after two days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down.

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.

Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn’t realize that it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of the many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn’t take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.”

-hilarious.

“I should say it is the most complicated photograph I have ever made. It shows position of the Sun on the sky in the same time of a day during one year…- v. rumyantsev

Analemma - a trace of the annual movement of the Sun on the sky - is well known among experts of sun-dials and old Earth’s globes as a diagram of change of seasons and an equation of time. Between August 30th 1998 and August 19th 1999 I have photographed the Sun 36 times on a single frame of 60-mm film. The pictures were taken exactly at 5:45 UT (Universal time) of every tenth day. Previously, the position of the Sun on the sky was calculated with computer as well as optimal moments of time for taking each of the exposures. However, my success was strongly limited by the weather. Nobody can guarantee fine weather every tenth day even for a few minutes. Approximately, there are 120-170 sunny days a year in Crimea. That made me sure that my aim could be achieved. To do the job, the camera must stay fixed during 12 months. It was difficult to find such a place where the camera would be safe. The solution of the problem was to make a plug-in platform rigidly connected to the camera, which allowed to keep accurate position of the camera during next mountings. Thus the platform with the camera could be mounted and dismounted repeatedly. I use “Kiev-60” camera with the lens “Flektogon” 4/50 and neutral filter N-4. Vertical field of view of the objective is about 50 degrees which allowed to photograph all the “figure-of-eight”. The exposures were 1/1000 seconds with the diaphragm 22. When the weather was bad the shooting might be postponed for 1-2 days, but not longer. Due to bad weather conditions I had to miss 2 exposures (November 26th and June 20th); the operating schedule was shifted but it had almost no influence on the appearance of the resulting picture. The background photograph was taken on 10th July 1999 in the evening.”

Cellulose Meeting Pods

Frequently, new office furniture, particularly that geared for open space, puts emphasis on the potential of private conversational groupings. Designer Paul Coudamy moves beyond furnishings (strictly speaking) and has devised a four piece cardboard pod as instant meeting space. While the designers statement (all about meetings in “this” economy and open space and etc.) doesn’t ignite the imagination, the Pods themselves do. They are somewhat akin to a child’s fortress, but for adult work. Up to four people fit in the pods, they are lightweight and easily put together. (via Contemporist).

[I just want one to have silly meetings with friends in it over philosophy, politics or music after some herbal consumption. Or to have DS battle with my brothers. It’s a dual purpose kind of thing.]
